About Us

Sometimes great endeavors start with a simple idea. For us, it all began with the desire to organize an exhibition for Bulgarian Shepherd Dogs in the Pazardzhik village of Dinkata. What initially seemed like a private initiative with no connection to any organization, turned into a hugely successful event, gathering over 150 shepherd dogs and dozens of owners, breeders, and enthusiasts of the breed from all over the country.
This success showed us that there are still many people who appreciate the true Bulgarian Shepherd Dog and are willing to work for its future.

More than 30 years after the establishment of the first Bulgarian Shepherd Dog club in Bulgaria, the breed continues to be unrecognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI). Over the years, various organizations and clubs were created, but instead of focusing efforts on preserving the authentic appearance, working qualities, and international recognition of the breed, these rather led to disunity among people and an alteration of the breed's original essence.
As a result, today we witness increasingly common hybrid and altered dogs that deviate from the historical image of the Bulgarian Shepherd Dog. At the same time, few specimens remain that retain the original characteristics and working qualities, developed over generations.
This is precisely the reason for the creation of the National Organization for Bulgarian Shepherd Dog (NOBOK). Our main goal is to find, preserve, and develop authentic representatives of the breed, to work for the preservation of its traditional type, and to encourage responsible breeding based on health, character, and working ability.
For us, the Bulgarian Shepherd Dog is not just a breed. It is part of Bulgarian history, traditions, and cultural heritage. For centuries, it has been an indispensable assistant to Bulgarian livestock breeders and a loyal guardian of herds and homes. Therefore, we believe that its preservation is a duty to future generations.
NOBOK was created by people united by a common cause – to preserve the Bulgarian Shepherd Dog as nature, tradition, and the Bulgarian people created it, and to work for its rightful place among recognized world breeds.
Because the Bulgarian Shepherd Dog is a national treasure that deserves to be preserved, developed, and recognized!
